FALCON CABINET RGB EDGE

Exclusively on our FALCON arcade machines you’ll find RGB LED edge molding. We’re now in version 3.0 of this hardware, revision information below.

Version 3 (2024)

VERSION 1 (2021)

1.0 was typical t-molding with built-in sleeve for RGB LED strips. This stuff is seen today on Raw Thrills arcade machines.

PROS:
- Pre-packaged t-molding form factor

CONS:
- Hard to install without LED breakage, hard to bend sharp corners
- Almost impossible customers to replace if damaged or burnt out
- Non-diffused appearance
- Long installation time with soldering required

VERSION 2 (2023)

This time we got a nice diffused look on the sides, but the front profile was a little inconsistently lit and dim. Installation on this is messy, applied almost like a purfling using similar tape and adhesive techniques.

PROS:
- The look is nice on the sides, very diffused
- Readily available as “neon strips”

CONS:
- Messy, time consuming installation using adhesives
- We consider it “not customer replaceable” if damaged or burnt out
- Not very durable
- Slightly more narrow than the cabinet edge, extra steps needed for alignment and covering the reveal

VERSION 3 (2024)

We designed this version from the ground up for the nicest look yet with the most customer benefits. It’s a mix of acrylic and ABS and took a long time to get right. This stuff looks great and is easy to replace if it ever burns out. Super durable too!

PROS:
- Perfectly diffused from all sides
- Very durable
- Easy to replace the LEDs inside
- Custom made for a perfect fit on our cabinets

CONS:
- Material cost is a higher
- Requires more manufacturing
- Mounting hardware is visible (but covered with side art along the outer edges)
